This World Oceans Day, Matte PR hosted its third seasonal beach cleanup at Toronto Islands. Yesterday, we cleaned up Ward’s Island and Centre Island, and we’re happy to report that the beaches were kept quite clean since our visit last September! Let’s all work together to keep them that way. 

 

We chose to do this spring cleanup on World Oceans Day to recognize all water is connected. Our rivers and streams empty into our freshwater lakes, which are open watersheds. Open watersheds empty into the ocean.

 

Since 2020, we’ve collected over 55lbs of trash from the shores of our beautiful Toronto Islands. Here are just some of the things we gathered during this year’s beach cleaning:
