Lexson, can you share a bit about how you got into content creation? How did you get into thrifting?

I started my content creation journey around September 2020 on TikTok. My girlfriend was creating on the platform prior to me and she convinced me to start posting video content of my outfits. Since then I’ve used TikTok and other social platforms to share my style journey in hopes of inspiring others who share a passion for clothing.

I was introduced to thrifting by Liam (my best friend) around summer 2017 when we moved to downtown Toronto together.  The local thrifts were our place to socialize and explore our styles especially on a budget.

Who would you say are your biggest style inspirations?

Jimi Hendrix, Erykah Badu, Andre 3000, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marvin Gaye and Miles Davis.

How would you describe your unique style or niche in the content creation space?

I would say my style is a mix between maximalist 70s/preppy/vintage.

What’s your process for coming up with video concepts?

Usually I focus on experimenting with different colour combinations to create various outfits. Closet updates, new pickups, creating outfits for upcoming occasions. Then I schedule out these ideas with my videographer/editor to get the content made. I also do some research to see if there’s any trends I can incorporate in my content.

How do you stay inspired and continue to come up with fresh content?

Travelling, consuming other creators’ art, continuously experimenting with my style.

Many of your looks are inspired by the ’70s. What is it about that era that you love the most?

The music that came from that time and the clothes people were wearing. This combo really inspires my style.

Can you tell us more about LBROS FINDS and what inspired you to start your own vintage store?

Liam and I started noticing when we go out to events and gatherings, we’d always get stopped by people who’d say “ y’all look amazing! Where’d you get that shirt or pants?” We’d always respond “ thank you it’s thrifted! “ Around fall 2018 we decided to start documenting our outfits on Instagram. That led to us experimenting with selling our vintage finds online.

What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out and is trying to build their platform?

Don’t stress about making mistakes! You’ll keep getting better at your craft by consistently working towards it.
